By charter, "The purpose of the Health Club shall be the furnishing of health and therapeutic facilities coordinated with the promotion of good fellowship for its members under the supervision of the Elmira Downtown Health Club."

Good fellowship is indeed an important benefit of Elmira's Downtown Health Club. The club includes a card room, TV lounge, and two Brunswick pool tables in addition to our other extensive facilities. Socialization is just part of the club's heritage.

Each holiday season, most members turn out for the annual holiday party to enjoy good food and some seasonal cheer. Occasional equipment fund raisers, 50/50 raffles, and other club projects promote camaraderie.

Many retired members find the club to provide a break from home bound monotony. Friendships and socialization along with their daily workout are an important dimension of their daily living.

Membership in the Elmira Downtown Health Club is limited to 200 men, 21 years of age and older. New members are currently welcome. The annual membership fee is $581.00 plus tax, including a full size locker and daily towel service. Many members pay this fee in semi-annual installments payable in September and March.

The club occasionally offers special promotions to new members. All club facilities are included in your membership. There are no additional fees or usage charges.

While some exercise facilities offer lower fees, when you add locker rental and towel service fees (if available at all) - the total package nears or exceeds membership in Elmira DHC - and offers FAR less.

New Members:

• Free 30 Day Membership with a $25 Key Deposit
• Call the club manager to try the club.
  Not available to men holding previous membership.

Young Members:

• $200 discount ($100/semester) off normal membership fee for new members under thirty years of age.
